 What is the scholarship renewal of the central Sector?

Central Sector Scholarship grants are not always automatically awarded each year. Students must practice renewal each academic year to prove they are still enrolled in their plan and have maintained proper academic performance. The renewal process takes the field on the National Support Portal (NSP). If you do not renew your scholarship application in time now, your 2026-27 counselling scholarship may be cancelled and you will have to pay your own college expenses.

 Who should apply for renewal?

Students who meet the following criteria must follow to renew:

  1. You received the Central Regional Scholarship within the previous academic year (2025-26).
  2. You are currently enrolled in the second, third and fourth year of your undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
  3. You passed your first-year final exam with the minimum percentage specified (usually 50% or in line with the course regulations).
  4. However, your parents or guardian annual earning circle falls under a certain limit (typically ₹4.five lakh or ₹8 lakh, depending on category).

 Central Sector Scholarship Renewal 2026-27: Last Date

            The Central Sector scholarship renewal application window usually opens by mid-year. Although authentic dates are introduced through the Ministry of Education, college students need to prepare primarily on the basis of a standard timeline.

Important Dates:

Scheme Open from: 01 June 2026

Student Application Open till: 30 September 2026

Defective Application Verification Open till: 15 October 2026

Institute Verification Open till: 15 October 2026

 IMPORTANT NOTE: Students should not wait for the last date. Colleges and institutions require time online to review applications. If the college verification is not completed before the final last date, the application may be rejected. It is strongly encouraged to submit the renewal application in the first few weeks after the portal is opened.

 How do I apply for renewal with NSP?

The recovery process is totally online. Follow these simple steps:

  • Visit the official portal: Visit the National Scholarship Portal at www.Scholarship.Gov.In.
  • Login with credentials: Click on the "Login" button and select "Refresh/Renew Application" for AY 2026-27. Enter your OTR or Aadhar No. (from the rest of the year) and your password.
  • Select Renewal: The portal will automatically download your old information. You best need to update information that has changed (such as your current university year or dealing with).
  • Update Details: Make sure your academic detail, and upload your previas marksheet.
  • Submit and take a printout: Submit the form and take a printout of the utility. Sign it and submit it to the academic department of your university or College for their online verification.

Important Documents Required

 Even if it’s a renewal, you’ll still need to upload some new files to qualify for the new year. Scan and prepare the following documents:

  1. Previous year marksheet: A scanned copy of your last year exam final result 2025-26. As well as last all mark sheet like 10th 12th 1st year 2nd year etc.
  2. Bonafide credentials: A credential from outside your university or college that shows you are a regular student in the current academic year (2026-27).
  3. Payment Receipt: Receipt showing the tuition fees you have paid for the current academic year.
  4. Income Certificate: Income Certificate (issued by Tahsildar for the current financial year)
  5. Bank passbook: A clear front page of the passbook of the student. Account no. and IFSC code shows clear.
  6. Aadhaar card: Make sure your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account.

 How much scholarship is given?

The central Sector scholarship is designed to cover a significant portion of the student's tuition fee and education expenses. The amount will be paid directly to the student's bank account.  Scholarship amount should be between 12000 to 20000 or more, depend on course or degree as well as reservation category.
